Geru, the boy Binti was in love with was murdered, probably by Okwu himself. After talking to his parents, listening to their reproaches, she went to the doctor, from whom she learned that she too is now Meduse peculiar. Binti called her parents for the first time, Mom was shocked but happy to see her daughter alive. Binti met Okwu and had a nice chat with him, they were becoming close friends. Binti began to study. Professor Okpala tried to teach her self-control through math and equations. He taught her how to use her edan, which would help her greatly in the future. It was difficult for Binti to learn, for she could not forget the stress of the many deaths she had experienced, she was not good at it. Even though she barely survived, she felt like a failure, despised by her peers for her friendship with Okwu. Jellyfish were feared and hated by other races, such as Khoushes.
